The Itinerary

DAY 1 – Welcome to Hohhot – Arrival & Leisure Time

Upon arrival, your private guide and driver will meet you for a seamless transfer to your hotel in Hohhot. The rest of the day is free for you to rest or explore the city’s markets and streets at your own pace.

DAY 2 – Ulanqab – Singing, Riding & Bonfire on the Grasslands

Travel to Huitengxile Grassland (2 hrs). Marvel at the alpine meadows and jagged formations of Huanghuagou Valley. In the afternoon, enjoy Mongolian performances—archery, wrestling, and folk songs. Wrap up the day with a bonfire party and stay overnight in a traditional Mongolian yurt.

DAY 3 – Volcano Trekking & Horseback Adventure

Hike through Wulanhada Volcano Geopark, climbing crater ridges and volcanic deposits for otherworldly views. In the afternoon, return to Huitengxile for a scenic horseback ride across the steppe. Spend a second night in a yurt, surrounded by serenity.

DAY 4 – Hike Daqing Mountain & Museum Visit

Catch the sunrise on the grasslands, then head to Daqing Mountain (2 hrs). Hike through birch forests and rolling ridgelines for about 5 hours. In the afternoon, visit the Inner Mongolia Museum for a deeper understanding of Mongol history and culture. Overnight in Hohhot.

DAY 5 – Handcrafts & Heritage – Hohhot to Baotou

Start your day at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Town, where you can try yurt building, paper cutting, dough modeling, and more. After lunch, transfer to Baotou (1.5 hrs) and explore the majestic Wudangzhao Lamasery, a living temple of Tibetan Buddhism. Overnight in Baotou.

DAY 6 – Kubuqi Desert – Off-Roading, Camels & Stargazing

Head deep into the Kubuqi Desert. Enjoy an off-road ride over 45° dunes and visit the Singing Sands (Yemingsha). Ride a camel into the hinterland, catch a vibrant desert sunset, feast on a barbecue, and sleep under a canopy of stars in a desert camp.

DAY 7 – Ordos – Futuristic Cities & Ancient Legends

Wake to a peaceful desert sunrise, then drive 2.5 hrs to Ordos City. Visit the Kangbashi District, once a ghost city, now a cutting-edge urban oasis. Finish the day at the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, a majestic tribute to the Mongol Empire’s founder. Overnight in Ordos.

DAY 8 – Farewell from Ordos – Departure Day
